About the property
Wake up to panoramic mountain views, coffee on the deck, and room for everyone to spread out. Ridgeview Retreat sits on 14 private acres in Fort Valley with a fully fenced yard, a separate game barn, multiple gathering spaces, a screened porch, and sunrise views across the Massanutten range. Perfect for families, friends, and pups looking for a peaceful Shenandoah Valley getaway.
Ridgeview Retreat is built for the kind of trip where everyone can spread out, settle in, and enjoy the view. The home sits on a hilltop plateau across 14 private acres, with wide views of the Massanutten range and the George Washington National Forest.
🍽️ Gather
The main living area is open, bright, and comfortable, with the kitchen, dining, and living room flowing together into a natural hub for the group. The kitchen is well stocked for meals at home — quality cookware, dinnerware, kid-friendly items, and plenty of room to cook, snack, and gather.
🛏️ Rest
The home sleeps eight across three bedrooms plus a finished basement. The primary has a king bed, private bathroom, desk, large closet, and TV. The second king bedroom catches some of the best light in the house, especially at sunrise. Downstairs, the third bedroom has a full bed, a twin, and a twin trundle, with a nearby TV room and sofa bed that works well for kids or extra hangout space.
🎱 Play
The separate game barn is where the group really spreads out — a pool table with mountain views, surround sound, movie space, dual TVs, and an oversized chess and checkers board upstairs. It's the kind of space that turns a stay into a get-together.
🔥 Unwind
Outside is where Ridgeview shines. The fully fenced yard gives kids and dogs room to run, while the front deck, screened porch, and grill make it easy to be outdoors from morning coffee through evening meals — all with the ridgeline as your backdrop.
🥾 Explore
Fort Valley is a quiet pocket of the Shenandoah region, with hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and scenic drives close by. Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park are roughly 40 minutes out. Or skip the agenda entirely and stay put with coffee, games, dogs, and the view.
You'll want a car here — Fort Valley is rural and rideshare doesn't reliably reach it. The roads are paved most of the way, with a gravel final approach and driveway; standard vehicles are fine in normal conditions, but AWD or 4WD helps in snow or ice. Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park are about 40 minutes away, and the nearest towns for groceries, gas, and restaurants are roughly 30 minutes. Cell service can be limited depending on your carrier, though the home's WiFi supports calling on most devices.
📕 Property Guide • After booking, we’ll share a detailed guide with our favorite hikes, restaurants, wineries, and fishing spots, plus everything you need to know about the home.
🐕 Pets • Up to two dogs are welcome (additional dogs by prior approval), and a per-pet fee applies. Service animals are always welcome — a quick heads-up helps our cleaning team prepare.
🚼 Family-Friendly • We provide a pack ‘n play, crib, high chair, and children’s tableware to make traveling with little ones easier.
🚗 Getting Here • Paved roads most of the way, with a gravel final approach and driveway typical of Fort Valley. Standard vehicles are fine in normal conditions; AWD or 4WD may be needed in snow or ice.
📶 Connectivity • Strong high-speed WiFi handles streaming, remote work, and video calls. Cell service can be spotty depending on your carrier, but WiFi calling works on most devices.
🛒 Groceries • Fort Valley is rural, so many guests stock up before arriving. Instacart, Uber Eats, and Walmart delivery generally serve the area, with availability varying.
🧯 Safety & Cleanliness • Linens and towels are professionally laundered between stays. Smoke and CO detectors, fire extinguishers, and first aid supplies are throughout the home. Please use care around stairs, decks, grills, and the game barn, and supervise children outdoors.
🔒 Security • A Ring doorbell camera monitors the main entrance and driveway; no interior spaces are monitored. A Minut noise monitor is also present to help preserve the quiet — it measures sound levels only and does not record audio.
🏡 Privacy & Quiet • The home is very private, and we ask that guests help preserve the peaceful setting, as voices, music, and outdoor noise can carry across the valley, especially in the evening.
🦌 Nature All Around • You’re surrounded by it here — expect deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, foxes, and the occasional black bear nearby. Please don’t leave food, trash, or scented items outside, as they can attract wildlife.
🧹 Property Services • Exterior teams (landscaping, lawn care) may occasionally visit during your stay. Visits are brief, exterior only, and never require access inside; we’ll give advance notice when we can.
🌹 Add-On Experiences • Make your stay extra special with celebration décor, fresh flowers, bubbly, and other thoughtful upgrades — just ask.
We're reachable by message, text, or phone, and our local team is nearby if anything comes up. We aim to be hands-off and respect your privacy, but we're always just a message away if you need anything.

Literally could not have been more perfect. Matt was quick to respond and always incredibly helpful, not to mention, the home was just beautiful!!! We were excited for the activities we had planned, but a low of our favorite moments from our trip happened in the home! Will always hold onto it in our memories!!! Thanks!!
The view from the wide back porch and deck is absolutely amazing!! 🏔️We took our two teens through this area and chose to stop and rent here. Gorgeous location and the home was perfect for all of us! The games in the Dog House were so much fun 🎱... Be sure to check out upstairs chess! ♟️ and in the basement of the house there's ping pong🏓, darts 🎯 and mini hoop 🏀. If you're traveling with a dog, this place is perfect for you! Definitely dog friendly--complete with a fence. Would definitely stay here again if we were to come back. Host was super friendly and accommodating providing suggestions and anything else we asked. Kitchen was more than adequately stocked. You could very much take your own food and cook here and stay here for a while.
The view from the house is AMAZING! The house was very clean. With all the games provided and the various sitting areas you don't need to leave the house to have fun. Our dogs loved the fully fenced in yard and that they could come to the game house with us. The amount of cookware provided was sufficient. There is limited cell service in the area but the homes wifi works great and covered the whole house including the separate game house. The tip to start your GPS directions before leaving the house and loosing cell service was very helpful. We will certainly be staying here again!!
