Starlight Farmhouse is a dog-friendly escape with a large fenced yard, sweeping farm-and-mountain views, and some of the darkest skies in the Shenandoah Valley. One of the valley's original farmhouses, it pairs real history with everyday comfort. Unwind by the fire pit, sway in the hammock, or catch the sunset from the porch — with hiking, ATV trails, and Skyline Drive close by, and Luray Caverns an easy day trip.

Starlight Farmhouse is a bright, comfortable getaway tucked into a quiet valley surrounded by farms, ridgelines, and the George Washington National Forest. One of the original farmhouses in the valley, it carries a sense of history alongside the comforts of a modern stay. It's an easy fit for couples, small families, close friends, remote workers, and guests traveling with dogs.

🍽️ Gather
The open living, dining, and kitchen flow together for cooking, shared meals, movie nights, or simply unwinding after a day outside. Big windows pull in natural light and frame the fields and ridgelines beyond.

🛏️ Rest
The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms, with a living-room daybed as a flexible extra. Upstairs, the loft-style primary has a king bed, a TV, and long views over the valley. Downstairs, the second bedroom offers a queen and a picture window onto the farm. Two full bathrooms and a full-size washer and dryer keep longer stays easy.

🔥 Unwind
Out back, the large fenced yard gives dogs room to roam while you take the porch, hammock, and fire pit. Mornings start slow with coffee; clear nights end under some of the darkest, most star-filled skies in the region.

🥾 Explore
Fort Valley gives you the Shenandoah region without the tourist crush. Hiking, biking, ATV trails, scenic drives, and the George Washington National Forest are all minutes away. The nearest Skyline Drive entrance is about 30 minutes; the main areas of Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns run closer to 45–50. Wineries, restaurants, and shops are an easy drive.

You’ll want a car here — the valley is rural and rideshare doesn’t reliably reach it. The cottage sits on a mix of paved and gravel roads, and AWD or 4WD helps in snow or ice. The nearest Skyline Drive entrance is about 30 minutes; the main park areas and Luray Caverns are closer to 45–50. Front Royal is roughly 25–30 minutes for groceries, gas, and restaurants.

🐶 Pets • Up to three dogs are welcome (additional dogs by prior approval). We’re unable to host cats due to allergies. Service animals are always welcome — a quick heads-up helps our cleaning team prepare. A per-pet fee applies.

🚼 Family-Friendly • We love hosting families and provide a pack ‘n play, high chair, and children’s tableware. Need more than one of any item? Ask in advance and we’ll do our best.

🚗 Parking & Access • Reached by paved and gravel roads; AWD or 4WD may be recommended in snow or ice. Room for up to 2 vehicles. Trailers and motorcycles aren’t recommended.

🧯 Safety & Cleanliness • All bedding and linens are professionally laundered between stays. Smoke and CO detectors, fire extinguishers, and a first aid kit are on site.

🦌 Nature All Around • You’re in the middle of it here — expect deer, rabbits, foxes, box turtles, and the occasional black bear nearby. Please don’t leave food, trash, or scented items outside, as they can attract wildlife.

🐄 Farm Views • Farm animals in photos may vary — they’re rotated for grazing and pasture care, and pastures are sometimes rested, so they may occasionally sit empty.
